Funding opportunities for students through the BIO5 Institute
The BIO5 Director's Award has been established by the BIO5 Institute to enhance support of life science graduate students. The competitive award is offered to first year graduate students who have applied to the University of Arizona to pursue a Ph.D. degree involving education and research in the molecular life sciences. The purpose of this award is to encourage and support the recruitment of outstanding graduate students whose research interests may lead to multidisciplinary life science studies. The award provides a stipend, tuition, health insurance, registration fees and additional support for one highly competitive first-year graduate student per graduate program. Only the selected students who matriculate will receive the award.
Candidates are nominated for the award by graduate recruitment chairs, who nominate one top candidate applying to their graduate program. Awards are determined primarily on the strength of the prospective graduate student's application materials, which should indicate scholarly achievements, previous research experiences, and interest in multidisciplinary or molecular life science research.
Competition for the award is held each spring semester. Contact the BIO5 Director of Research Training & Career Development, , for additional information.
In 2004 and 2005, BIO5 offered Graduate Research Awards to encourage and support graduate students engaged in multidisciplinary research. BIO5 Graduate Research Award Recipients
